8th Training Course of China-ASEAN Legal Training Base (29 Nov to 23 Dec 2014)
The China Law Society is organising the 8th Training Course of China-ASEAN Legal Training Base from 29 Nov to 23 Dec 2014 at the Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Chongqing Municipality, China.

The Training Course aims to provide the necessary general information on China's legal system and its civil and economic laws, as well as the development of rule of law in China.  It will be held with a view to enhance trade, social and legal-professional ties between China and ASEAN countries, and to provide intellectual support for all-round cooperation between China and ASEAN.

The Training Course will take three-and-a-half weeks, and comprise three sections:
  • Academic training;
  • Practical activities; and
  • Academic conference.
Academic training will be conducted by well-known scholars, officials and lawyers in China, while practical activities will include visits to Chongqing-based courts and procuratorates, and meetings with Chinese legal professionals.  The Training Course will be conducted in English.

China Law Society will bear each trainee's expenses, which include tuition, accommodation, meals, and domestic transportation fees in full.  Participants only have to bear the cost of transportation between China and their home countries, and the visa application fee.

Members of the Malaysian Bar, particularly those with expertise related to business and trade with China, are encouraged to apply, as the Training Course will be useful in expanding their professional scope and help ensure smooth trade and investment between China and ASEAN.

For more details, please refer to the attached brochure.
To apply, kindly complete and submit the attached application form by 14 Nov 2014 (Friday) directly to:
Members who apply for the Training Course are advised to inform the Bar Council regarding their application.  If time permits, the Bar Council will prepare a general letter of support for the application, which will be forwarded to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and China Law Society.  China Law Society and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China will select two trainees from each ASEAN country as participants.
