The KL Bar Criminal Practice Committee and Professional Development Committee together with the Bar Council Criminal Law Committee jointly present a Seminar on Criminal Appeals on Saturday, 08.09.2012 at 9.00am - 1.30pm at the KL Bar Auditorium, 10th Floor, Wisma Kraftangan, No.9 Jalan Tun Perak, 50050 Kuala Lumpur 

Topics/Speakers

1.       Criminal Appeals in the Appellate Courts
Speaker: Hisham Abdullah @ Teh Poh Teik
He is a Senior Member of the Bar and has been in practice for 34 years. He has authored 2 books, entitled 'The Law on Drug Trafficking in Malaysia' and 'Criminal Trial Advocacy for the Defence'. He is a familiar face in both the Court of Appeal and Federal Court and many of his cases have been reported in the law journals.

2.       Criminal Appeals in the High Courts
          Speaker: Gurbachan Singh Bagawan Singh
He is a Senior Member of the Bar and has been in practice for 33 years. He has vast experience in criminal practice and is a familiar face in the Criminal Courts and Appellate Courts. Numerous of his cases have been reported in the law journals

International Malaysia Law Conference 2012
Pre-Conference Golf Tournament (25 Sept 2012)

In conjunction with the International Malaysia Law Conference ("IMLC") 2012, a pre-conference golf tournament will take place at Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah in Shah Alam.

The details of the event are as follows:

Date         : 25 Sept 2012 (Tuesday)
Time : 1:00 pm
Venue : Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Shah Alam
Participation Fee : RM180 (for local participants)
        USD70 (for overseas participants)
                                        * The fee is inclusive of the green fee for 18 holes, buggy fee (twin-sharing), golfers insurance, caddy fee (twin-sharing) and tea.

The magnificent 27-hole championship course at Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Shah Alam is designed by world-renowned Thomson Wolveridge & Associates helmed by 5-time British Open Champion, Peter Thomson.  The golf course provides excellent challenges to average- and low-handicap golfers alike.  Each fairway is designed and sculptured individually with Thomson's trademark pot bunkers, rolling fairways and medium-to-large elevated greens.  The greens here are the truest and fastest any golfer will find in Malaysia.

The mode of play is system 36 stableford.  The participation fee is RM180 for local participants and USD70 for overseas participants and is inclusive of the green fee for 18 holes, buggy fee (twin-sharing), golfers insurance, caddy fee (twin-sharing) and tea.  

If you are interested to participate in the tournament together with fellow Malaysian golfers and foreign delegates, kindly complete and submit the attached participation form by fax to 03–2032 2043 or by email to gajendran@malaysianbar.org.my, not later than 15 Sept 2012 (Saturday).

We have been informed by the Court that Members who wish to attend the pre-conference golf tournament are permitted to adjourn court matters fixed on that date; however, they are advised to apply for adjournment by today, 4 Sept 2012 (Tuesday), as announced in Circular No 163/2012 dated 27 July 2012. Judges have been given the discretion to approve or reject late applications.
