To Members of the Malaysian Bar
Procedure for Presentation at PTG WPKL Involving Payment of Quit Rent for 2018
The Pejabat Pengarah Tanah dan Galian Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (Federal Territories Director of Lands and Mines Office Kuala Lumpur, "PPTG WPKL") informed us, in its letter dated 22 Dec 2017, that the implementation of parcel quit rent for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur has been postponed.

As such, for the purpose of presentation at Pejabat Tanah dan Galian Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (Federal Territories Lands and Mines Office Kuala Lumpur, "PTG WPKL") for 2018, Members must ensure that quit rent for the year 2018 has been settled in full before presentation for registration of the applicable property.  This requirement is in accordance with Section 301A of the National Land Code 1965.
However, for presentation before 1 June 2018 involving strata titles in instances where the quit rent payment for 2018 has yet to be settled, Members are required to produce the following documents as proof of payment of quit rent for 2018:
(1) A certified true copy of the receipt for payment of quit rent for 2018 for the relevant parcel / unit issued by the Management Corporation  ("MC") or Joint Management Body ("JMB");
(2) The original letter from the MC or JMB certifying that the quit rent for 2018 for the relevant parcel / unit has been settled; and
(3) That quit rent for 2017 has been fully settled.
A copy of the letter from PPTG WPKL is attached for your reference.
