KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) - The prosecution today applied to the Sessions Court here for former Batu Kawan UMNO division vice-chief Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan and lawyer Matthias Chang Wen Chieh to be acquitted and discharged of allegedly attempting to sabotage the country's banking and financial services.

MACC confiscates RM1.5 Million Cash in Expatriate, Professional Workers Case
ALOR SETAR, May 11 (Bernama) - The Kedah branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) seized RM1.5 million from the home of one of the two suspects who were detained on Tuesday for alleged involvement in a corruption case involving work permits for expatriates and professional foreign workers amounting to RM20 million.

Obsolete Environmental Laws to be amended to make TN50 successful
KUANTAN, May 11 (Bernama) - The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry is to amend several environmental laws to ensure sustainable development to achieve the 2050 National Transformation (TN50). Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said that among the laws regarded as obsolete and requiring amendment was the Environmental Quality Act 1974.
