KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 (Bernama) - The High Court here today increased the jail term from two years to 12 on a former administrative assistant at the Accountant General's Department who was convicted on 29 counts of criminal breach of trust by falsifying payment vouchers involving losses amounting to RM918,811.25.

KUALA LUMPUR: It is time to reconsider if publicity rules for lawyers are too restrictive as part of a blueprint to revamp the country's legal profession, said Malaysian Bar president George Varughese. He said the Bar would look into some of its rules to move with the times and be more in sync with foreign jurisdictions which had relaxed their rules to be more competitive. The new president, who was elected at the Bar Council annual general meeting on March 18, said he was devising a three-to-five year plan for the Bar.
