Members Who Contravene Section 8 of the Advocates Ordinance – Sarawak
[Cap. 110] May Be Subject to Disciplinary Proceedings
Members are hereby reminded that pursuant to section 8 of the Advocates Ordinance – Sarawak [Cap. 110] ("Ordinance"), advocates and solicitors of the High Court of Malaya who wish to practise in Sarawak must possess a practising certificate issued by the Registrar of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak.
Members who are in contravention of this provision may have committed an offence and be liable to a fine, as detailed in section 16 of the Ordinance, and in addition be subject to disciplinary proceedings pursuant to section 94 of the Legal Profession Act 1976.
